Wilson’s Promontory National Park, also known as “the Prom,” is a protected area located at the southernmost point of the Australian mainland in the state of Victoria. It covers an area of approximately 50,000 hectares and is a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers. In WW2 is was a commando training base for the Australian Army. Many of its tracks and trails were cut in those days.
The park features a diverse range of landscapes, including rugged coastlines, pristine beaches, granite mountains, and lush forests. Visitors can enjoy a range of activities, such as hiking, camping, wildlife watching, swimming, surfing, and fishing.
Some of the most popular attractions within the park include Squeaky Beach, Whisky Bay, Tidal River, and Mount Oberon. Overnight walks provide access to more distant locations – the Lighthouse, Sealers Cove and Waterloo Bay.
The park is also home to a wide range of wildlife, including kangaroos, wallabies, wombats, echidnas, and a variety of bird species.

Seeing your photos are always good for the soul, Bruce. Seeing this location also brings back happy memories.
Wonderful photographs. Have never been to that area so very pleased to view your shots, quite wonderful, lifts the spirits.
As always Bruce, great photography. It’s ages since I’ve been to the Prom, so a visit soon would be good. Couldn’t do the walks I did however.
